cosmic destiny

the sun and the moon

the star and the satellite

they would not meet anytime soon

but no one can describe how much they’re alike

the earth’s task is to divert

from what seems like the most forceful attraction

though the sun is an extrovert

still it fails to capture the moon’s affection

the sun will never stop illuminating light

for its soulmate to dance in bright

though in the end, the earth will receive

still the sun will always resist

one small step for man

the moon now is just a wasteland

you know the time has ended

they pursue you then leave you stranded

three years is far too long

only for them to have no obstruction

and seven minutes is way too short

when it takes eight for a conversation

but they were created perfect

even Hawking couldn’t change their destiny

perhaps in the future they will meet

that one fine day would eventually be

the poem portrays parallel meanings of love, humanity and divine existence

mainly focusing on a hopeless romantic narration with "the sun" personating the protagonist role

also conveyed are metaphors of a non-reciprocal relationship, told in a description of the remorseless and condescending attempt by humans in colonising the space

stanza one

the sun and the moon are two totally different creations

one is a star while the other is... well a moon

they're separated by a distance of 150 million kilometres

but that doesn't stop the destiny to materialise

just like humans;

Adam and Eve are also distinct to each other

one is male and another is female

and they were also separated far away after downgraded to Earth

but that too, didn't stop the destiny to materialise

stanza two

ending the narrative on Adam and Eve,

this stanza tells more about the cliché love dilemma

the earth seems like a more plausible option for the moon

considering the distance that is much nearer

the earth became a diversion for the moon

despite the sun being the centre of everything

stanza three

the sun will always radiates its love and affection

for the moon to dance gracefully in the bright light it received

even though the sun knows, eventually the moon will only dance for the earth

reflecting the earth light (love) for nights light that it received from the sun

stanza four

"one small step for man" is referring to the first words said by the first man in the moon

the earthlings once was very keen to pursue the moon

it became everyone's dream to go there once upon a time

now? there is nothing there but rockets and probes debris

a wasteland

that humans from the earth have thrown there to rot

stanza five

the closest the sun can get to seeing the moon is during solar eclipses

which only happens roughly once every 3 years

and the duration of the solar eclipse is only 7 minutes and 31 seconds at tops

29 seconds short of the time taken for sun's light to reach the moon

that means they will never get the chance

to really see each other in a simultaneous fixed time-dimension

stanza six

believing in a creed where doomsday is inevitable

it is the reason why the moon and the sun were created the way they were created

the whole universe is bound to coalesce

and that will be the only time

where the moon and the sun meet as the perfect vengeance

that concludes an ending for humanity

the sun will never stop illuminating light for its soulmate to dance in bright

if you ever find someone like the sun
someone that loves you unconditionally
but at the same time values your freedom
please...
take care of them
because they are indeed
one in a million.
